Data Engineer
As part of our engineering team, you will build and maintain systems that empower sophisticated risk and research-focused hedge funds. Your role will span expert software development, seamless client integration, and strategic contributions to our core product.
We are looking for talented Data Engineers to play a critical role in building Hedgineer’s innovative platform, which integrates risk management, research, trading analytics, and AI capabilities. This role is ideal for individuals who excel at developing robust data pipelines and possess an analytical mindset to suggest and enable new data-driven features.
- Design and Build: Architect and implement scalable, high-performance ETL pipelines that form the backbone of our evolving platform. These pipelines will handle the most critical and relevant financial market data, ensuring reliability and efficiency as we grow into a transformative force in the industry.
- Innovate: Develop event-driven ETL architectures to meet diverse real-time and batch data processing needs, laying a solid foundation for our platform to scale and handle complex financial workflows.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Partner closely with our teams in Bangalore and New York to ensure data integrity, security, and performance standards for handling mission-critical financial data.
- Drive Insights: Analyze vast datasets to uncover actionable insights, validate models, and propose cutting-edge features that enhance our platform’s capabilities and relevance in the financial markets.
- Leverage Modern Tools: Use state-of-the-art data engineering tools and frameworks to design workflows that will power advanced analytics, AI-driven solutions, and other pivotal components of the platform's future growth.

Requirements
- 2-5 years of experience working in software engineering ideally focused on data engineering
- Deep understanding of when to use various database technologies and how to optimise data handling and storage for both analytical and transactional systems.
- Exceptional programming skills in Python and SQL.
- Expertise with data manipulation libraries such as pandas or polars.
- Experience in building production-grade ETL pipelines using tools like Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect.
- Familiarity with event-based ETL architectures for data processing and analytics
- Experience with DBT and duckdb for data transformation and querying.
- Familiarity with relational databases such as Snowflake, MSSQL, and Postgres.
- A degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, with a strong commitment to continuous learning and professional development in emerging technologies and platform innovations.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across technical and non-technical teams. Must demonstrate strategic thinking with a capability to contribute to product strategy and roadmap discussions.
- Exposure to analytics in the financial domain or working with hedge funds/asset managers
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a knack for handling ambiguity.
